My Activity:
An activity that I usually do is a game. I write the new vocabulary on the board in a random way and I add few words that are familiar to the pupils.(the words will be scattered all over the board)Then i divide the class
into two groups and i ask for a representative from each group.One pupil( who is sitting) reads a word from the board and the two representatives have to be fast to point on this specific word.The faster in recognizing the word gains one tick and the person who gets four ticks wins.After reading the words, the second step is to say the meaning in L1 and pupils have to find the word in English.
Why is it good?
1.All pupils are motivated and want to participate even the non-readers
2.There is a competition involved here and pupils like that, it is fun
3.It does not need preparation ( teacher)
4.It checks both recognition and meaning of the word.
5.It involves physical response, pupils move by pointing on the word.(pupils are not passive)
